Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph
LECESSE served as Construction Manager as well as LEED Project Manager on this new construction of a 105,000 square foot Motherhouse in Hamburg, NY. This religious retirement home contains 32 Independent Living Units, 40 Skilled Nursing Beds, and Common areas that include a therapeutic pool, fitness area, community dining, prayer rooms and Chapel. Redesigned to accommodate two federal wetlands found on the property the landscaping consists of classic indigenous plants with only 20% turf grass. An existing convent on the site was carefully dismantled in an effort to reuse or donate most of the materials. Energy cost savings at the new retirement home are estimated at 48%. The project team also pursued energy efficiency incentives under New York State Energy Research & Development Authority's program. This project is the first known senior specific project in the nation to be Platinum Certified under the LEED Homes Multifamily program. LECESSE partnered with Perkins Eastman Architects on this project. .
