University of Rochester - O'Brien Hall
O’Brien Hall is the first residence hall to be built on the River Campus in 42 years, and was designed to complement the existing adjacent Anderson and Wilder residence halls. The 52,000 square foot 5 story new construction project of 148 units met LEED gold certification, a first for the University of Rochester River Campus. Each upper floor features a common lounge, a study room, and 14 single and 11 double student rooms. The interior design differs dramatically from other residence halls by offering more meeting, event planning and recreational activity spaces on the lower floors. It also offers indoor bicycle storage, an underground tunnel connecting to Wilder Hall and grounds landscaped with new trees far outnumbering those removed for building. LECESSE served as design build construction manager and partnered with Beardsley Design Associates on this project.
